The new test system (online) for admissions in IITs, NITS, IIITs and CFTIs has been proposed from 2017 admissions and first of its kind test is all set to be conducted online in October 2016.
- (1888PressRelease) January 23, 2016 - A new system for entrance exam for admission in IITs, NITs, IIITs and central funded technical institutes in India has been proposed from 2017 admissions and first of its kind test is all set to be conducted online in October 2016.
National Authority for Testing (NAT) in India along with the Education Testing Service of the US is planning to build a testing platform which we believe will be similar to Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).
This Scholastic Aptitude Test-type examination will be conducted to select around 4 to 5 Lac students to qualify for the final JEE. It may have quantitative and qualitative sections and is proposed to be conducted 4 times in a year.
After the proposed SAT-like exam, the second level exam - much alike JEE (Advanced) - could be conducted by IITs to select around 40,000 students to participate in central counseling procedure. The new proposed SAT-like exam will definitely be an online test and a student should have a regular practice of online test's pattern and atmosphere and should start form now itself for such kind of exam.
Let's understand SAT (Existing Pattern)
SAT is used for admissions to colleges in US & it has three major sections: Critical Reading, Mathematics, and Writing.
These sections are have three parts. There are 10 sub-sections, including an additional 25-minute experimental or "equating" section that may be in any of the three major sections.
Critical Reading
It has three scored sections: two 25-minute sections and one 20-minute section, with different types of questions, including sentence completions and short and long reading passages.
Mathematics
This section is known as the Quantitative Section or Calculation Section & has three scored sections. There are two 25-minute sections and one 20-minute section, as follows:
-One of the 25-minute sections is has MCQs.
-The other 25-minute section contains 8 MCQs and 10 grid-in questions.
-The 20-minute section is all MCQs, with 16 questions.
Writing
This section includes MCQs and an essay (25 minutes long). The essay sub-score makes about 30% to the total writing score, with the MCQs makes 70%. The MCQs include error-identification, sentence-improvement and paragraph-improvement questions.
There is nothing students should worry about, the new pattern is expected to be a lot more efficient than the current pattern and students will have more than one chances to qualify for the final JEE unlike JEE Main.
