- (1888PressRelease) June 16, 2019 - The Government of Canada has recognized 11 new Canadian communities on June 14 that will take part in Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot to assist rural and remote communities in attracting foreign workers of various skill levels to apply for permanent residence. The Canada Immigration department has designed the pilot to invite skilled workers across various rural communities where there is an urgent need of skill-shortage.
The rural immigration pilot goal is to help the communities in combating labour market shortages that are primarily caused by falling birth rates and rising retirement rates. As of now, Canada’s immigration department focused on four provinces for 11 communities namely Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia.
Canada's rural communities have employed over four million Canadians in the country to contribute to their growing economy.
These 11 communities will draw a larger number of skilled migrants to apply for Provincial Nominee Program and programs like Ontario PNP, British Columbia PNP, and Manitoba PNP will be largely benefited. However, the exact eligibility requirements for the rural immigration pilot program will be released in the later year of 2019.
The communities under these provinces will work with a local economic development organization to evaluate potential migrants for recruitment and other job-related openings for their permanent residence.
For the time being these new communities will address the pilot as a blueprint for the rest of the country and later on other communities will be added.
