New Packaging Waste Sorting Icons for French Markets
A look at France’s new info-tri (sorting information) for consumer product packaging.
- (1888PressRelease) October 27, 2021 - France introduces new harmonized signage to improve consumer product sorting and enable better recycling.
Citeo, a not-for-profit organization established to reduce the impact of discarded packaging on the environmental, has published new logos to enable better sorting – sorting information (info-tri). The new icons combine the Triman, which replaces Le Point Vert, new icons representing sorting rules for each packaging material, and a color code based on the sorting containers:
• Green – glass
• Yellow – all other packaging types
The new icons will be in use from January 1, 2022, and will be rolled-out until March 2023.
The new signage was developed following several consumer studies. They have been designed to enable better:
• Compliance with recycling regulations
• Clarity of message
• Simplification of execution
This is just one of the changes that follow in the wake of France’s anti-wastage and circular economy law (AGEC Law), which stipulates that consumer information for product sorting must be harmonized in order to improve recycling.
