New Orleans Photographer Les Schmidt Garnering National Recognition

  • (1888PressRelease) May 28, 2016 - New Orleans photographer Les Schmidt has received numerous awards following his successful exhibition at Guy Lyman Fine Art in October of 2015 (http://www.theneworleansadvocate.com/features/13567441-129/steven-forsters-party-central-les).

    Most recently, Schmidt's work was accepted into the Naples Art Association's nationally recognized "Camera USA 2016" exhibition (http://www.naplesnews.com/participate/376979451.html). His image "Lillian" from the "Dorothy Jean" series, which was featured at the October opening (http://guylymanfineart.com/events/les-schmidt/), will be on display at the June 17th preview reception. The exhibition will be open to the public from June 20th through August 5th.

    Other notable achievements include his second place finish in Colors of Humanity's "Skies" 2016 exhibition for his photograph "Reservoir" (http://www.colorsofhumanityartgallery.com/Skies-2016/Skies-2016-Show/n-rGzQmzand) and an honorable mention in Art-Competition.net's "Faces of Humanity 2" art call for "Tradition in Progress" (https://www.art-competition.net/Faces-of-Humanity-2.cfm), an image shot in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

    International Gallery of the Arts selected two of his black and white photos for
