New Online Community Plays Matchmaker for Busy Families
A Family Village has fully launched and we would like to invite all families to log on and connect with their ideal village.
- (1888PressRelease) November 29, 2011 - Austin, TX: There's no shortage of parenting information online, but none of those tools offer to connect new parents offline, in the real world.
In 2008, new moms Tiziana Barrow and Catherine Scott felt trapped. After years in the professional world, they were at home, alone with newborn babies. Seeing the void in resources to connect new mothers, they set out to build a place for parents to find friends, share stories, and create real-world relationships.
Out of their mutual frustration, A Family Village was born. "We wanted to offer new parents the chance to meet other new families who were in the same boat," Scott said. "Our site matches families based on criteria that might interest them, such as proximity for play dates, babysitter swaps or just online support from others going through the same transitions to parenthood."
Members of A Family Village create profiles for their families and search for similar profiles near and far. Members can also post blogs, swap unused or outgrown items, find advice and much more. "Now I have someone to call upon when I am not quite sure what to do," Barrow said. "The only consistent factor in parenthood is change. Having access to others online or in-person with kids my age makes it easy to ask questions when I need to."
With A Family Village, you don't have to parent alone. New members can sign up for a free account at www.afamilyvillage.com and get started meeting their family's match. In today's world, it truly does take a village to raise a child.
