New National Standard for Children’s Cases and Bags Published in China
A look at China’s new national product standard for children’s cases and bags - GB/T 41002-2022.
- (1888PressRelease) November 10, 2022 - SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published a SafeGuardS reminding stakeholders that the Standardization Administration of China has issued a new national standard for children’s cases and bags – GB/T 41002-2022.
The standard covers general specifications and was included in China’s No.2 announcement of approved national standards in 2022. It relates to cases and bags for children aged no greater than 14 years.
Products within the scope of the standard are divided into one of three categories depending on the age of the user:
• Category I: infants under the age of 36 months
• Category II: children between 36 months and under 6 years of age
• Category III: children between 6 and 14 years of age
SGS has published SafeGuardS 122.22 to give stakeholders an overview of the scope and technical requirements within GB/T 41002-2022. These include requirements on chemicals, materials and appearance.

The new national product standard came into effect on October 1, 2022.
