New Miss Teen Maryland International 2012 Crowned
Sixteen year old, Maryland teen, Layilah Nasser becomes the 2012 Miss Teen Maryland International titleholder.
- (1888PressRelease) April 26, 2012 - Maryland teen, Layilah Nasser (16) was crowned the new 2012 Miss Teen Maryland International Pageant titleholder on the weekend. Watching last year's winner, Margo Huffman, pass over the crown was a particularly poignant moment for Maryland business entity and Pageant coach, Terrianne Small, who coached both girls to their victories, including the 2011 and 2012 pre-teen winners, Alex Wakefield and Indeya Cambell.
Nasser, no stranger to pageantry, is an honor roll student at Watkins Mill High School and her pageant platform is Girl Power and the Girl Scouts of America for whom she works tirelessly. Nasser is also the Junior Captain of the award winning Watkins Mill Varsity Pom Team, which won first place at the Damascus Invitational in January, and she also won the 1st place team captain award. When she is not exercising, dancing, singing or shopping, Nasser is volunteering with the Girl Scouts. She is the current Teen spokesperson of Girl Scouts of the Nation's Capital and is involved in spreading awareness, helping younger girl scout troops and speaking at SHARE events. Nasser has served as a Girl Scout herself for 11 years, earning over 100 plus badges and contributing over 725 hours to the Girl Scouts and her community.
A firm believer in girl empowerment, Nasser has found her passion in helping young girls embrace their personal power through Girl Scouts activities and membership. Already in 2012, she has had a jam-packed few months organizing events for her cause.
