New Mexico's New Premiere VFX and Animation Facility is Open for Business
Pivot was formed by former Sony Imageworks employees Eric Wilson (Creative Director), Aaron Estrada (CG Supervisor) and Jennifer Rojo (General Manager). When Sony Imageworks' Albuquerque studio closed its doors, a group of highly experienced visual effects artists decided to start their own company.
- (1888PressRelease) September 11, 2012 - ALBUQUERQUE, NM - World-class animation and visual effects company opens its doors in downtown Albuquerque. Founders, Eric Wilson (Creative Director), Jennifer Guyer Rojo (General Manager), Aaron Estrada (CG Supervisor) all former employees of Sony Pictures Imageworks (SPI) and a group of New Mexico-based investors have formed Pivot Metamedia Inc., a New Mexico Corporation. DBA Pivot VFX, they employ several artists who were also previously employed at SPI. Pivot VFX maintains a friendly relationship with Sony Pictures Imageworks and both companies look forward to working with each other in the future.
Housed in the 15,000 sq ft 7th floor of 505 Marquette Ave NW in Albuquerque, Pivot VFX provides computer graphic visual effects and animation to the Film, Television and Attraction Media industries. Pivot is a full service visual effects provider, specializing in Virtual Environments, Set Extensions, Animation, Lighting, Rendering and Compositing.
"New Mexico's business and film friendly environment allows us to be competitive with foreign studios while also providing our employees with a high quality of life," Wilson explains. Education and involvement in the community are high priorities for Pivot VFX. Many Pivot employees have been working closely with The University of New Mexico and their Interdisciplinary Film and Digital Media program for years. "Our goal is to grow a community of talented and skilled artists, and we do that by working with the local colleges and universities, offering paid internships, and bringing our industry experience into the academic environment" says Estrada, CG Supervisor.
