New Jersey Carpenters Union 254 Lends a Hand for the Holidays
Members Participate in Local Toy Drive and Church Volunteer Project.
- Philadelphia, PA-NJ (1888PressRelease) December 23, 2013 - It's the season for giving, and, in the spirit of the holidays, the New Jersey Carpenters Union #254 is doing just that. The group put aside their busy workload for a bit this month, and lent their time to local charitable causes.
Members recently donated to the Somerville Elk's Christmas Toy Drive, each offering an unwrapped gift to be given to a handicapped child in the community. In total, the union collected more than 200 toys for the program.
In addition to the toy drive, members volunteered to set up the life-size nativity scene at St. James Episcopal Church in Edison, NJ.
"It feels good to step away from our everyday duties and give back to the community," said Anthony Verrelli, Local 254 vice president. "Sometimes we get caught up in a routine, and it can be so gratifying to put that on pause for the sake of others. We're proud to lend a hand any time of year, but there's something extra fulfilling about doing it during the holidays."
