New initiative to reinvigorate Fitchburg Public Library
Fitchburg Library Trustees and local citizens are decidedly stepping forward in a positive new initiative to reinvigorate Fitchburg Public Library with a new theme and marketing program, Fitchburg Public Library: Your Passport to a World of Information.
- Worcester, MA-CT (1888PressRelease) August 12, 2010 - "Our library delivers thousands of dollars in resources and support that meets so many of the critical needs of this community. We go to the library to find jobs, create new careers, help grow small businesses, get the information needed to re-enter the workforce. We borrow books, magazines, music and movies and learn the latest technology there and engage in civic activities, go to classes, meet with friends. Now it's time for our community to step forward and support the library by registering for a library card and becoming active in our new programs," says Bob O'Connell, Chair of the Trustees.
The theme is based on several months of surveying local community members to see what they feel the next steps should be as part of the library's vision of the future. To initiate the program, the library is conducting a special meeting to present the vision and invite volunteers to be part of their new Ambassador program on August 18th at 6:30 pm.
"Our library Ambassadors will help us get the word out to various community groups and organizations and site the many wonderful benefits and resources available here," says library director Sharon Bernard. "We are creating special Passport Packets for Ambassadors to distribute. Each packet will contain some of the great resources here within this facility along with a calendar of events and a registration form for a library card. Our goal is to dramatically increase our cardholders and library users. This is just the beginning of an exciting, new, positive phase in the history of our library."
