- (1888PressRelease) March 14, 2012 - From director Lynn Walker and writer, producer, editor, Jennifer Buys, comes "East Meets West: Oriental Medicine and the Future of Health Care in America," an hour long documentary that explores all there is to know about Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture. The film not only gives the viewer an overall history of Oriental Medicine but also gives suggestions leading towards integration between Chinese Medicine and western medicine.
Acupuncture and Chinese herbal treatments are some of the ancient traditions of Oriental Medicine dating back up to 2000 years. In "East Meets West" we are informed on the clinical efficacy of Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture through interviews with many experts in the field. Lonny S. Jarrett, Licensed Acupuncturist, Neurobiologist and National Lecturer on Chinese Medicine states in the film, "I think that the reason Chinese Medicine has lasted as long as it has is because it's helped people - humanity - meet their survival challenges in every generation." One of the goals of "East Meets West" is to propose a new system of healthcare that would successfully integrate the "best of both worlds." "The final 15 minutes are the most engaging as Buys and a handful of professionals spell out how the two different worlds of health care can be efficiently intermingled," says Tyler Hansen of gazettetimes.com
"East Meets West" was released to DVD on February 14th, 2012 by Passion River Films. Produced by MicroEpic Productions and Center Point Productions, the film has received honorable mention at the 2010 Los Angeles Reel Film Festival and a Special Jury Award at the Oregon Film Awards.
