  • (1888PressRelease) March 02, 2012 - How can food suppliers develop an effective, comprehensive, food safety management system to comply with the requirements of FSSC 22000, one of the major GFSI recognized schemes?

    DESCRIPTION

In the current global market, many major retailers and branded food manufacturers require their suppliers to conform to one of the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) recognized schemes. One of the most promising schemes to receive GFSI recognition is the Food Safety System Certification (FSSC) 22000 scheme, which was recognized by GFSI in 2010. The FSSC 22000 contains at its core the requirements of ISO 22000:2005 as well as the detailed requirements for prerequisite programs as set out in the Publicly Available Specification (PAS) 220:2008, also known as ISO/TS 22002-1:2009. Most recently, the FSSC 22000 scheme has adopted versions of prerequisite program requirements for animal feed manufacturing (PAS 222) and for food packaging manufacturing (PAS 223), thereby expanding the applicability of the FSSC 22000 scheme to these additional sectors.

    OBJECTIVE

This one-hour complimentary webinar will help you understand why many of the world's largest corporations have elected to align their own facilities to the FSSC 22000 scheme. The webinar will help you:

Understand the framework required to build your own effective food safety management system
Gain a general understanding of the requirements to achieving FSSC 22000 certification and how to avoid the common pitfalls to certification
Understand the steps involved in transitioning from HACCP and ISO 22000 systems to full FSSC 22000 scheme conformance
Learn to cross reference your existing standard or scheme to the FSSC 22000 scheme
Many food manufacturers are under pressure to satisfy various customer requirements, leading to multiple audits/systems and onerous costs. SGS can perform certification audits to one standard or perform integrated certification audits combining FSSC 22000 with other ISO standards such as ISO 14001 or OHSAS 18001, allowing clients to meet varying customer demands for GFSI recognized scheme certification as well as environmental and workplace health and safety audits through a single audit, preventing costly down time and saving money.
