New Chinese Standard for Clothing with Wool Wadding
A look at China’s new product standard for garments containing wool wadding materials – FZ/T 08001-2021.
- (1888PressRelease) May 06, 2022 - SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, is reminding stakeholders that China has released a new product standard for garments with wool wadding as a filling material.
The industry standard – FZ/T 08001-2021 – is applicable to clothing items with a shell and lining made primarily of woven or knitted fabric and a filling material made from at least 50% sheep wool and turned in wadding. Wadding is a continuous sheet with generally includes a single layer of flocculent fibers, a multi-layer of fibers, and a multi-layer of fibers and fabrics. These are formed by the consolidation of fibers, or fibers and fabrics, through needle punching, stitching, bonding and other processes. It includes fluffy fabrics made using the grabbing process.
Stakeholders should be aware the standard does not cover outer wrapping.
Manufacturers should ensure compliance with GB 18401 for safety requirements and for infant and children’s wool wadding garments GB 31701.
The standard includes a variety of internal quality requirements. For more information, stakeholders should review original SafeGuardS 051/22 or contact SGS.
Issued by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and included in announcement No. 33 of approved industry standards published in December 2021, it became effective on April 1, 2022.
