New Book: LEARNING FROM TWO CULTURES A Report By An Interdisciplinary Group Of People, On The Way To Better Cities
ISA, an international, interdisciplinary planning group, home both in Asia and Europe, is presenting the essence of their long term urban- planning and -design experience in its new book LEARNING FROM TWO CULTURES.
- (1888PressRelease) November 11, 2014 - ISA has recently released a new Book: 'Learning from two Cultures - Urban Development, Renewal, Preservation and Management in Europe and Asia'. The bilingual (Chinese/English) publication is a report by a group of people, on the way to better cities.
The book is divided into two parts: the first part of the book briefly introduces the 'think and act tank' - the ISA group - and on which philosophies it is based. Furthermore there is a section reflecting on experiences and objectives of fundamental aspects of urban planning, ranging from 'urban ecology', to 'city identity','urban development'and 'human urban philosophy'.
The second part of the book becomes more specific through the examination of selected projects from the East and West, organized in the three major topics: 'urban development', 'urban renewal', and 'urban preservation and management'. In each of these working areas, ISA reflects on their experiences: what are the existing tasks, how can they be approached, how can they be worked on, and what are possible solutions.
The ensuing published thoughts and projects should stimulate - not to copy blindly - but to develop individual methods from their basis, to encounter every urban planning task freshly, creatively and originally. To support the reader's particular efforts in understanding urban planning in the East and West, is the true concern of this publication.
