Neumann Extends Studio Monitor Leadership with Newly Launched KH 120 D Digital System
New KH 120 D has been perfectly designed for tracking, mixing and mastering in music, broadcast, project and post-production studios.
- (1888PressRelease) April 03, 2014 - Dubai, United Arab Emirates - Neumann GmbH today introduced its KH 120 D nearfield studio monitor in the Middle East. This digital version of the audio expert's KH 120 A monitor carries forward the compact design and excellent price-performance ratio of its predecessor while boasting an additional BNC input for AES/EBU or S/P-DIF formats (24-bit/192 kHz), enabling seamless digital workflow right up to playback on the studio monitor. The KH 120 D has been perfectly designed for tracking, mixing and mastering in music, broadcast, project and post-production studios.

A new feature added to the KH 120 D is a digital delay unit for both the analog and digital input channels. This allows the monitor to be used for tasks where time alignment is required. Examples of such applications include:
Audio video synchronization- digital signal processing in video monitors often causes lip sync problems between image and sound. Applying a specific amount of delay to the audio signal can eliminate this. With a maximum delay of over 400 ms, the KH 120 D is well equipped to satisfy the future demands of 3D video and Ultra High Definition.
Time delay compensation- space restrictions often make it impossible to position all loudspeakers equidistant from the listener in stereo, surround sound or 3D audio playback configurations. The delay feature of the KH 120 D provides an easy method of compensating for path length differences between different monitors to an accuracy of 0.1 ms (equivalent to 3.4 cm). Adjustment is via rotary knobs on the rear panel of the monitor.
If desired, the delay feature on the analog input can be bypassed in order to ensure the integrity of the analog signal path, as with the KH 120 A.
The KH 120 range has been designed for use as near-field loudspeakers or as rear loudspeakers in larger multi-channel systems. The family of compact studio monitors incorporates the latest in acoustic and electronic simulation and measurement technologies to ensure the most accurate sound reproduction possible.
