Nelson & Forbes launches masterful limited edition Bronze Rhinoceros
Nelson & Forbes launches limited edition Bronze Rhinoceros, created exclusively for the company by renowned sculptor Jonathan Sanders.
- (1888PressRelease) September 13, 2011 - The company was founded in 2009 by Debbie Foster, the daughter of a portrait sculptor, with a vision to create exquisite bronze sculpture, designed and manufactured entirely in the UK using traditional craftsmanship techniques that span centuries.
Formerly named The Sculpture Company London they have recently re-branded and will now be known as Nelson & Forbes Sculpture Company.
Nelson & Forbes Sculpture Company continues to forge ahead with new pieces for collectors, now introducing the masterful limited edition Rhinoceros Mother & Baby. The new piece captures the nurturing side of this powerful beast, showing a mother in a quiet moment with her calf. The bronze sculpture is a magnificent work of art that will take pride of place in any collector's home. Cast in a limited edition of just 250, the piece retails at £510.00.
Artist Jonathan Sanders has an enviable reputation as a sculptor of African wildlife. He has spent many years studying the form and movement of the animals he loves in their native Africa. His deep knowledge and understanding of his subjects allows him to exquisitely capture the animal's raw spirit and to imbue each of his pieces with an emotion that means his art is highly sought after by animal lovers and collectors alike.
Every piece made by Nelson & Forbes is created in bronze using the ancient art of lost wax casting, which can be traced back over 6000 years and remains largely unchanged from its original form. It is the same process that was used to create famous sculptures across the globe including the Trafalgar Square Lions and the doors of the Bank of England. This process allows every intricate detail of a sculptor's original but often fragile work to be perfectly recreated in a beautiful material and ensures that their sculpture will last a lifetime.
The introduction of this piece shows Nelson & Forbes' continuing expansion of its offering for collectors, coming shortly after the launch of the impressive Leaping Lioness, again from Jonathan Sanders.
Every Nelson & Forbes piece includes an artist signed certificate of authenticity hand printed from an original copper plate engraving, enclosed with the piece in a handmade gift box.
Nelson & Forbes Founder Debbie Foster says "This sculpture beautifully captures the powerful nature of the rhino and yet there is an irrefutable tenderness to it. We believe galleries and collectors alike will be delighted by the detail and emotion contained in the piece. "
Rhinoceros Mother & Baby is one of 36 exclusive pieces in the Nelson & Forbes 2011/12 collection, created by artists Jonathan Sanders and Sue Maclaurin. Galleries are invited to apply as stockists; for enquiries please contact Nelson & Forbes on 01442 256290.
