NDC Retains Its Leading Position Among Russia's Depositories
Russia's National Depository Center reports that it has been named the leading Russian depository.
- (1888PressRelease) September 01, 2010 - MOSCOW - National Depository Center (Closed Joint Stock Company) (NDC), Russia's only settlement depository servicing the full range of debt and equity securities of Russian issuers, announced today that Russia's Top 30 Depositories Ranking for 2009 has confirmed NDC's position as the leading Russian depository.
NDC's share in aggregate value of securities on deposit among Russian settlement depositories as of 31 December, 2009, where market value is calculated using the formula developed by Russia's Federal Financial Markets Service (FFMS), was 72.81% (RUB5.88 trillion).
About Russia's Top 30 Depositories Ranking
Russia's Top 30 Depositories Ranking is issued by the Infrastructure Institute Foundation. It is prepared on the basis of data provided by the Professional Association of Registrars, Transfer Agents and Depositories (PARTAD) for 2009. This is a list of Russia's biggest depositories including settlement, custodial and specialized depositories ranked on the basis of market value of securities on deposit as of 31 December, 2009. The method of calculation of market value has been developed by Russia's Federal Financial Markets Service (FFMS) providing for all securities (shares, bonds and units of unit investment trusts) to be assessed on basis of their market value.

The National Depository Center (Closed Joint Stock Company) is the largest settlement depository in Russia, servicing on-exchange and OTC transactions with all types of debt and equity securities of Russian issuers. NDC provides storage of global certificates and depository accounting for 99% of corporate bond issues, sub-federal and municipal bond issues. It services 100% of transactions conducted in the federal bond and the Bank of Russia bond markets, more than 99% of transactions conducted in the corporate and regional bond markets, the majority of transactions with equities and also services UIT units and Eurobonds. The international rating agency Thomas Murray has assigned NDC an АА- rating as a central depository. NDC is Russia's national numbering agency, and the substitute numbering agency for the CIS, authorized to assign the international ISIN and CFI codes.
