Ciccarella, with an impressive career of senior executive positions in charge of transportation safety behind him, brings his expertise and experience to one of the nation's fastest growing special needs transportation companies, Chicago based SCR Medical Transportation, as the company's new Vice President of Safety.
Winner of the 2007 APTA Gold Award for the best overall safety program in America and now Vice Chairman of the APTA Bus Safety Committee, Mr. Ciccarella has gone from strength to strength, conceiving, creating, implementing and directing a great number of transportation safety programs and especially paratransit safety and customer care driver training programs. He has been rewarded by seeing these programs come to fruition, raising the levels of safety and customer care in the companies concerned. These have not been small organizations. Mr. Ciccarella has expertise as a senior executive in a $2.2 billion passenger transportation company and has directed large-scale change management processes.
Mr. Ciccarella was attracted to Chicago-based SCR Medical Transportation for a number of reasons and saw the company as a perfect fit for his skills. "It was an opportunity for me to move back into the paratransit industry [after a senior position at Illinois Central School Bus in Joliet, IL] and to become part of a company that is growing and is clearly going to expand, which fits in with my personal goals," he said, adding, "From what I have seen so far we have a very dedicated crew of individuals at SCR who have been around for a while and understand the business - they really care and are passionate about the folks that we carry on the buses, and have the utmost concern for their safety and wellbeing."
