National Tourism Awards conferred by President Patil
The National Tourism Awards 2010-2011 were announced in a ceremony held in New Delhi. President Pratibha Patil conferred 78 awardees with top honors for tourism across 50 categories. Efforts are on to promote India as 365 day destination hinted tourism minister Sahay.

(IHPL) bagged the award in the category of tour Operator Promoting Niche Segments other than Adventure and Mice for the year 2010-2011. "Back to back awards National Tourism Awards is the recognition of our commitment towards quality, integrity and high standards of services " said Mr. Rahul Sharma, M.D., Indian Holiday Pvt. Ltd.
Talking about the future plans , Mr. Sharma was quite upbeat at the future outlook of the company. According to him travel and tourism is one of the most profitable industries in India credited with contributing a substantial amount of foreign exchange. "We had already won this award last year and back to back award shows the level of commitment we have towards the promotion of this segment" Mr. Sharma added. He also talked about the recent upsurge in luxury travel segment and commitment of IHPL in promoting various avenues including the promising niche of luxury train travel.
Indian Luxury Trains (ILT) is the luxury travel unit of the IHPL catering especially to the luxury train travel niche. "Since its inception 2 years ago, ILT has emerged as one of the most trusted portals for luxury train traveling in India. The mention of the portal in several prestigious travel and lifestyle magazines only substantiates our level of commitment and quality of service." added Mr. Sharma.
This year's ceremony also saw introduction of three new categories which included the award for 'The Best State: Campaign Clean India' to promote and maintain effective mechanism for cleanliness at tourist destinations and encourage healthy competition among States and Union Territories.
Besides two more categories of awards for the Best Heritage City and Best Heritage walk have also been introduced this year. Delhi was conferred with the 'perfect' choice for Best Heritage City and Best Heritage Walk which is not surprising given the fact that Delhi tourism is trying its best to have the city recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage.
A total of 78 awardees received National Tourism Awards across 50 categories. The awards were conferred by the President Pratibha Patil at the ceremony held in Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. The National Tourism Awards have over the years emerged as a prestigious recognition of achievements in the travel, tourism and hospitality sectors.
The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India annually presents National Tourism Awards to various segments of the travel, tourism and hospitality industry. These awards are presented to State Governments / Union Territories, classified hotels, heritage hotels, approved travel agents, tour operators and tourist transport operators, individuals and other private organizations in recognition of their performance in their respective fields and also to encourage healthy competition with an aim to promote tourism.
