Smithsonian Installs Solar PV System at the newly constructed National Museum of African American History and Culture.
Washington, DC-MD-VA-WV (1888PressRelease) November 11, 2015 - Solar Solution has teamed up with the Smithsonian Institute and other local contractors to install solar on the newly constructed National Museum of African American History and Culture! This beautiful building boasts a nearly-100kW solar array that will help to offset its power usage when it opens in 2016. The NMAAHC will be the first Smithsonian museum to have solar panels and it hopes to serve as a model for sustainability and environmental stewardship.
The Sunpower panels atop the museum are just one of several steps that the NMAAHC is taking to earn the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification. The system will produce over 136,000 kilowatt hours of energy each year, and we are thrilled about helping them lower their energy bills while going green states Atta Kiarash, Construction Manager for Solar Solution.
