- Fond du Lac, WI (1888PressRelease) May 21, 2014 - Steven P. Gregory began his military surplus business five years ago out of his garage with his father. By 2013, it was time to fully take over the reins on his own and open a storefront for the convenience of his customer base.
As owner and operator, Mr. Gregory oversees the marketing aspect of the business, as well as the day to day business. As owner, it is also his responsibility to ensure that inventory costs are low to keep prices as low as possible for his customers. Mr. Gregory buys his products directly from the US government and does not deal in aftermarket items. This guarantees that the items in his store are all GENUINE surplus items. His inventory rotates quite often, so there are always new deals to be seen.
Steve's Genuine Military Surplus is a one stop shop that offers various products, including extreme cold weather gear, new and issued combat boots, shooting gear, cases, modular sleep systems, and all other various hunting, fishing, and camping type gear. Being a US Air Force veteran himself, Mr. Gregory knows the products that he sells very well. Experienced with the ways in which he used to adapt and repurpose the items he used to use in the military, he passes on his knowledge to his customers, while they, too, share their product ideas.
"My father inspired me to make this jump to becoming a small business owner," Mr. Gregory said. "He has been a pillar of support and guidance for me. Running the business and networking has also shown me the real value in opening a storefront in order to help them the items they need and want."
Hoping to eventually expand the business to multiple stores in various locations, Mr. Gregory would also like to bring his son on board one day. But first and foremost, his main goal right now is to maintain the business model he currently employs, which is to give the customer a great deal on a great product.
As a service connected disabled veteran, Mr. Gregory has spent the past 11 years in management positions, corporate security, and as a criminal investigator for the state of Wisconsin.
