National Association of Distinguished Professionals Selects John R. Turner as an Executive Member of the Executive and Professional Online Registry
John R. Turner, PE, Department Manager for Wiley/Wilson's Alexandria, VA, office, has been selected as an Executive Member of the National Association of Distinguished Professionals. The selection recognizes John Turner's commitment to excellence in the design of engineering systems for buildings.
- Washington, DC-MD-VA-WV (1888PressRelease) February 08, 2014 - John R. Turner holds a BAE in Architectural Engineering from Pennsylvania State University and an MBA from Villanova University. He is a registered professional engineer in 14 states through NCEES, lighting certified through NCQLP, and certified in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) through the US Green Building Council. After earning his degree, Mr. Turner began his career as a junior electrical engineer with EwingCole, an arcitectural and engineering firm in Philadelphia, where he was responsible for lighting and electrical design, calculations, and drafting for healthcare and sports facilities.
In his current role, Mr. Turner oversees the daily operations of the MEP engineering group, which includes preparing proposals and schedules, forecasting manpower, establishing project fees, recruiting, hiring, and mentoring engineers, and maintaining a viable, productive, and profitable engineering staff. He also directs the design and specification of MEP engineering systems for government and private sector mission critical and sustainable facilities.
"My goal has always been to be the best possible engineer I can be," Mr. Turner said regarding his 30 years of experience designing power distribution, lighting, life safety, security, and telecommunication systems for all types of buildings. "To be technically proficient, responsibly creative, and economically sensitive with everything I design is very important to me."
Mr. Turner is an active member with IEEE and IES. He received a Recognition Award for Outstanding Contributions to Excellence in Federal Construction in 2006 by the US General Services Administration/Public Buildings Services/FDA Center for Drug Evaluation and Research.
