- Chico, CA (1888PressRelease) August 19, 2011 - The current Mystic Roots Band "Cali-HI World Tour 2011" is on pace to give fans everything they have come to expect from Mystic Roots with the release of their newest album Cali-HI. The band is launching into their 15th year of touring, finishing a US nationwide run with a Pacific Rim tour including Japan, Guam and Hawaii to entertain US Troops abroad. Mystic Roots has always had a culture and community conscious message behind their songs, band founder cootdog said online yesterday, "Playing for US troops is a natural progression for MRB's longtime goals of lightening up the system and 'promoting positivity through music'. We want to spread our message of unity while also standing up at times when it really matters." The political nature of the entire music genre also contributes to the significance of MRB supporting US troops on this tour.
Historically, the Mystic Roots Band is a pioneering act in the now popular genre of music that mixes reggae with hip-hop music here in California. This cross-over genre started in the early 1990's with Sublime, followed in the mid 1990's by Mystic Roots, Long Beach Dub Allstars, Slightly Stoopid, Pepper, and The Expendables among others, and now most recently the genre is producing successful touring acts like Rebelution, SOJA and Tribal Seeds. These bands have now circled the globe in a wave that is evolving a popular California-style direction in reggae and hip-hop music.
Most all these bands will agree that the Mystic Roots Band has done as much as any band to bring this genre of music to the rest of the US and the world, touring up to 150 concert dates a year. They have won a wide variety of awards including the Los Angeles Music Award for Best Reggae Album for their landmark release "Constant Struggle", and have played a wider variety of small venues up to large venues and festivals than most others, forging widely-known brand name recognition across the US and Hawaii.
Now fronted by American Idol finalist Katherine Ramirez, the updated sound is a blend of her beautiful voice reinforced by hard hitting Roots Rock Reggae grooves. On this Cali-HI World Tour, special guests will include rub-a-dub artist Marko from Ashland, Oregon, and Nor Cal's own California Kidd. In addition to Japan, Guam, and Hawaii, highlights of the tour will include: Reggae On The River in Humboldt County, California, Monterey Bay Reggae Fest, and Reggae On The Rocks at Red Rocks in Colorado to name a few, with connecting dates across the Midwest.
Promoting positivity through music on tour is the Mystic Roots Band's mission, and this Fall in the Pacific Rim, they're sure to be proud sharing that message of strength through love with our hardworking US troops. Please visit website for tour dates.
