myConference, a Tool that Delivers Conference Papers to Researchers, Is Now Available
IEEE Computer Society is launching a new digital information tool that delivers conference papers in specific fields of interest directly to individuals' desktops and mobile devices.
- (1888PressRelease) August 12, 2014 - LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. - In light of tighter travel budgets, researchers can't be everywhere for every major conference, and yet their careers often depend on staying up to date on critical research in their fields.
Drawing from 450 technical conferences, workshops, and symposia around the world, myConference lets users choose specific topics of interest, and directly delivers the papers they want to read.
"IEEE Computer Society understands that no one can go to every major conference, and yet people's careers depend on staying up to date on critical research in their technical fields," said Evan Butterfield, IEEE Computer Society Director of Products and Services.
"myConference is the latest in a line of IEEE Computer Society digital products intended to help today's technology professionals advance by putting them in the driver's seat when it comes to deciding exactly what information they personally need."
myConference lets users select up to five topic areas from a list of 30 leading-edge subjects, then each month, the advanced search algorithm in myConference finds all conference papers related to the chosen topics from the proceedings of leading, peer-reviewed technical conferences.
"myConference doesn't mean you'll never go to another conference again-it just means you can now be exposed to more conferences than you could ever possibly attend," said Butterfield.
After the articles are delivered to the user's desktop and mobile device, users can preview them and select the articles they are interested in. Up to 24 articles can be downloaded per year, with the option to purchase an additional 12 articles throughout the year.
myConference is available for an annual fee of $45 ($25 for IEEE Computer Society members). For more information, visit http://www.computer.org/portal/web/myConference/info.
