My Sports Dreams Helps Emerging Sport Of Lacrosse Continue
Sports marketing company, My Sports Dreams, assists college and H.S. lacrosse teams across the country raise thousands, bridge budget gaps and continue to compete.
- New York, NY (1888PressRelease) August 12, 2010 - Lacrosse is currently the fastest growing sport in the country. With many colleges and high schools adding the game to their athletic repertoire, the number of players competitively cradling a lacrosse stick has doubled in the last decade.
But with these increased numbers comes higher participation costs. An influx of new players means families shelling out hundreds to join off-season club teams and already-tight school athletic budgets being squeezed even further to accommodate a program that can often be quite costly to get off the ground.
"Costs to compete and travel go up every season. However, overall, budgeting will continue to be tough due to this recession," shares Tom Gravante, Coach at Mount St. Mary's University. "Our school is not in an economic position to increase our operating budget."
Fortunately, there is a company dedicated to helping college and high school lacrosse teams raise thousands of dollars quickly and easily: My Sports Dreams.
To date, hundreds of lacrosse teams have used My Sports Dreams' unique sales-free system-including the University of Michigan, Monte Vista (CA) H.S., Sacred Heart University, Noble (ME) H.S., SUNY Oneonta, and the University of Wisconsin.
One of My Sports' Dreams biggest success stories so far is Eastchester (NY) High School, which was able to turn its boys' lacrosse program around after raising $5, 548.
"With the thousands of dollars we raised through My Sports Dreams, we were able to hire a professional videographer and build up a library for team access. Subsequently, the boys scored the most goals in team history," explains Larry Petriccione, head coach of the Eastchester Eagles. "It was such a positive fundraising experience and a great success."
Founded in 2003, My Sports Dreams has developed a faster alternative to typical sales-based fundraising drives, instead creating a personalized color-printed sponsorship brochure that the company sends to the athletes' best personal and family contacts.
"For the first time in my 18-year career, I was able to take my squad on a spring training trip to Florida," explained Coach Gravante, "and we didn't have to sell anything - shirts, magazines, whatever - to get there. Just the idea that we graciously needed help covering the cost of our spring trip led to us raising $12,630!"
"My Sports Dreams is proud to assist lacrosse teams across the country in raising the money they need to run at a high level, and we look forward to helping the sport continue to grow," said Jordan Kern, co-owner of My Sports Dreams.
