In the spirit of connecting sports with a purpose and impacting young lives, The Checkered Flag Run Foundation (CFRF) presents the My Brother's Keeper Brother Up Forum - Connecting Solutions to Action on Saturday, January 31st at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church.
The My Brother's Keeper (MBK) Community Challenge, launched by the White House in 2014, is an initiative aimed at engaging communities to organize, leverage resources and take action with specific programs designed to elevate young lives. The City of Phoenix, along with 100 mayors, county officials and tribal nations across the country, accepted the "Challenge" to employ efforts to guide young men of color - from the cradle, to college, to career -by connecting them with mentoring, support networks and skills training.
Join U.S. Congressman Ruben Gallego and Mayor Greg Stanton as community leader and advocate, Michael Kelly moderates an all-star panel of national celebrities and local leaders in an open dialogue about building ladders of opportunity, and removing barriers to success for young men of color. Actor, Boris Kodjoe, Shark Tank's Daymond John, Dallas Cowboys Pro Bowl Wide Receiver, Dez Bryant, author/entrepreneur Freeway Rick Ross, Major General (Ret) James R. "Spider" Marks and Thurgood Marshall College Fund President & CEO, Johnny C. Taylor, Jr. are among the distinguished panelists scheduled to attend.
