- (1888PressRelease) April 22, 2016 - Uome Music Group will host a listening event for the independent artist in celebration of the O'Billi's new mixtape entitled U.O.ME, an acronym for "Understanding Outstanding Me," which features the upcoming star's single, "VAMONOS." On Tuesday, April 26, 2016, the event will take at Visana NYC, located at 321 1st Avenue in New York City.
"For this project I was inspired by my everyday struggles as an artist in today's industry, where everyone is trying sound a certain way to sell records or be on the radio. I really had to dig deep and find myself and who I truly am to present it to the world. I found peace through just being honest and my true feelings as an artist. People always find out who you truly are when you're being gimmicky or not oneself. Being who you are and transparent is truly undeniable. That's where the whole "U.O.ME" title came from just me being me and demanding respect from that," says O'Billi.
Born to a musically inclined family in the North side of Jamaica Queens, O'Billi was raised by a single mother of five. Knowing that most people hustled, played sports, or made music as a means to make it, O'Billi dabbled with music and poetry as a way of staying out of the streets.
O'Billi aims to make music for the dreamers and believers who were told they would never succeed. He wants his music to uplift its listeners above the poverty and oppression in which they suffer on a daily basis.
