Murderous Roots: Canadian doctor and amateur genealogist Anne McPhail, finds a murdered woman on the floor of the library in the small town, of Culvers Mills, Vermont. The corpse, in life Jennifer Smith, a librarian and gifted genealogical researcher, collected information about her clients, and used it to blackmail them. She has extorted money from all kinds of people: local wealthy families, Russian criminals, quiet, unassuming grandmothers. Anne takes a dangerous journey, retracing Jennifer's steps to find the murderer amongst her victims.
"I am so pleased to have this novel published. Genealogists have to be detectives, as I discovered on researching my own family. I think the reader will enjoy following the genealogical clues to the solution of the mystery."
"Winters maintains the pace and the tension right to the end, and her descriptions give the reader a sense of being in a small New England town. All in all, I think mystery readers will enjoy this one." Bob Sanchez at the Internet Review of Books."
