Cheers to Young Indian Leaders - An IBN18 Initiative.
- (1888PressRelease) July 02, 2011 - IBN18 in association with IRB Infrastructure Developers Limited (IRB), today announced the winners for the 2nd Edition of the "Young Indian Leaders Awards". The award aims to celebrate the achievements of the nation's youth for their commendable contributions that have aided in bringing a wind of change and pride to the nation.
Dhruv Lakra an Oxford MBA Skoll scholar, who started a courier service for deaf and dumb youths and Umesh Kulkarni, the maker of critically acclaimed films VALU and VIHIR were awarded by the chief Guest Jyotiraditya Madhavrao Scindia, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry at a glittering ceremony held in the capital.
An MBA graduate from Oxford, Dhruv Lakra started Mirakle Couriers, a courier company with a difference which employs only deaf and dumb youths.
A courier service requires minimal use of speech and hearing, which is why Dhruv thought of starting this business for the specially disabled people. Barring the 4 management staff, all employees are hearing disabled. He has 2 branches in Mumbai and already plans to go pan India in the long run.
Umesh Kulkarni form Mumbai, the 35 year old film maker is a National Award Winner. His movie 'Valu' was featured in Berlin film festival. 'Valu', also became first Marathi feature film to be selected in Rotterdam International Film Festival in the year 2008. His other film 'Vihir' was premiered at South Korea's Pusan festival and also at the London film festival. His efforts are bringing back the nations focus on Marathi cinema.
The grand finale of the award ceremony will be telecast on CNN-IBN, IBN7 & IBN Lokmat @ 10 PM, 8 PM & 6 PM respectively.
Speaking about the initiative, Rajdeep Sardesai, Editor-in-Chief, CNN-IBN, IBN7 & IBN Lokmat, said, "The aim of this initiative is to acknowledge the commendable work being done by the youth of our nation. We salute these Young Indian Leaders."
