Mumbai Mantra Brings Sundance Screenwriters Lab To India
Mumbai Mantra Media Ltd. shall organise an annual Screenwriters Lab in India with the world renowned Sundance Institute founded by Robert Redford.
- (1888PressRelease) June 04, 2011 - Mumbai Mantra, the media and entertainment division of the 7.1 billion Mahindra Group shall organise an annual Screenwriters Lab in India with the world renowned Sundance Institute founded by Robert Redford. The Lab will provide an opportunity for 6 to 8 scriptwriters from India to develop their works under the guidance of accomplished international scriptwriters in an environment that encourages storytelling at the highest level.
The Mumbai Mantra | Sundance Institute Screenwriting Lab March 2012 is inviting applications on www.mumbaimantra.com as part of its Open Submission Process.

The application process for the March 2012 Screenwriters Lab is quite simple. Hard copies of the application must reach Mumbai Mantra by June 1, 2011 alongwith the name, postal address, phone number and email id of the writer. The winners of the inaugural Sundance Institute | Mahindra Global Filmmaking Award, in recognition and support of emerging independent filmmakers from around the world. The winning directors and projects are: Bogdan Mustata, WOLF from Romania; Ernesto Contreras, I DREAM IN ANOTHER LANGUAGE from Mexico; Seng Tat Liew, IN WHAT CITY DOES IT LIVE? from Malaysia; and Talya Lavie, ZERO MOTIVATION from Israel. The awards were presented at a private ceremony at the Sundance Film Festival.
The four winning filmmakers will receive a cash award each, attendance at the Sundance Film Festival for targeted industry and creative meetings, year-round mentoring from Institute staff and creative advisors, participation in a Feature Film Program Lab, and ongoing creative and strategic support.
Beginning in 2012, one out of the four award recipients will be an Indian director - a commitment to fulfill the vision of Mahindra and of Sundance Institute to champion a new generation of Indian filmmakers.
