After a brief hiatus producing for the likes of St Etienne (Words And Music By Saint Etienne, Universal, 2012) and Tyson (Back Yard Records) as well as adding production on various other projects under the 'Go-To Boys' moniker, Blonde and Metro return as MUDDYLOOP to usher in their new signature sound of electronic pop music. Sensual and romantic, quirky and fun, retro and future - MUDDYLOOP's music is for the lovers in the bedroom to the lovers on the dance floor.
The hotly anticipated new single, You Need This (In Your Life) is taken from their upcoming brooding second album, Out of the Dark, which is set for release on December 16th 2013. Referencing everything from early Prince to Depeche Mode to Daft Punk to Kanye West, the overall production is future beats and shiny pop vocals over moody, jagged synth lines and booming subs.
You Need This (In Your Life) continues the album's genre-bending manifesto with an assault of speaker-pounding 808s, sensual synths and decadent electro-pop sheen. Featuring the twisted nocturnal vocals of Marvin Ambrosius, delivering bang-on-the-zeitgeist lyrics, You Need This (In Your Life) is like a breath of fresh air in the polluted smog of pop.
The new single also comes complete with an official visual, directed by D.K. This controversial video is already starting to make some noise on the internet with its fast-paced vaunt through the disturbing, dark, consumerist and debauched internet habits of made-up 21st century girl, Nikki Darling.
