MSys Technologies Develops a GPU-Based Image Enhancement Solution for a Digital Home Entertainment Company
MSys Technologies works with a digital entertainment solution provider in the United States in porting its CPU-based image enhancement solution to the graphics processing unit.

Recently, MSys worked with a digital-home-entertainment and image-processing solution provider in developing an application for porting their CPU-based image enhancement solution to GPU.
The technology that the customer uses to monitor and change the quality of an image takes advantage of the processor in the system. The customer's solution is intended to enhance images and videos while saving power on the device. In the process, the file size may be reduced too. MSys's solution is intended to port the solution to the graphics processing unit of the system in order to minimize the time consumed for enhancement. The solution works with the image's sharpness, contrast, and brightness.

This particular solution is aimed at all digital entertainment platforms, including movies, visual communication, and the web.
MSys uses several technologies, tools, and programming languages for developing the solution. They include Microsoft DirectX, C++ programming language, High Level Shading Language (HLSL), and graphical user interface design using Microsoft Foundation Class library (MFC). The solution supports Windows, Linux, Android, and iOS. The advantage of the solution is that it can save power by almost 20 percent. Time and power savings will make the solution adaptable in the visual media and home entertainment sectors.
The original enhancement algorithm uses adaptive threshold technology, in which the histogram of the image is adjusted to a limit in order to increase the quality without increasing the size of the image itself. Histogram is the graphical representation of the tonal distribution in a digital image.
MSys has been working on similar embedded projects for quite some time with several high level clients.
