Curtain Raiser of the CII SecureTech 2020 was organized on 28 December 2020 under the Chairmanship of Mr. Tribhuvan Darbari – Chairman CII Aerospace & Defence Subcommittee (ER) & Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Texmaco Defence Systems Private Limited (TDSPL) & Chief Executive, Texmaco Rail & Engineering Limited.

At the outset of the event, Mr. Tribhuvan Darbari addressed the session. Prominent leaders of the sector like Rear Admiral V K Saxena, Chairman & Managing Director, Garden Reach Ship Builders & Engineers Ltd and Mr. Prabir Chaudhuri, Head Business Development–Cyber and Physical Security Division, Tata Advanced Systems Ltd also participated in the session.
CII SecureTech 2020 – Virtual Expo On International & Homeland Security is going to be held from 11th January 2021 – 23rd January 2021. CII SecureTech 2020 is a much-needed Virtual Exposition covering all elements of internal and external security. It is a platform created for exhibiting products and services required by both Internal and External Security Agencies, Government Departments engaged in maintaining law and order in the States and the Country, Border Security and surveillance, Industrial and Territorial Security, Domestic Security etc.
SecureTech 2020 also invites OEMs and large and mid-size intermediaries to come on board and participate in B2B sessions for direct interactions with new/potential suppliers for strengthening their supply chain. Theme based conference sessions planned under this virtual exposition would cover the potential, business opportunities, current trends and upcoming technological advancements in both the Territorial and internal security space.
The four major focus areas of CII SecureTech 2020 would be Vendor Connect, Indigenisation for import substitution, Overseas Collaboration and Knowledge sessions scheduled from 11th January 2021 till 20th January 2021.
Mr. TS Darbari said that substantiating limited capability of police and paramilitary forces with new equipment, creation of new and dedicated forces and units to counter emerging situations, proactive approach to critical infrastructure, asset protection and disaster management are certain demand factors driving the homeland security market.
Talking about the reforms and initiatives of the government to strengthen homeland security infrastructure in the country, Mr. TS Darbari said, “Ministry of Home Affairs has proposed to create a Multi-Agency Centre (MAC) that will work at both the Centre and State level to compile and disperse intelligence to the police and paramilitary forces. Government has set up a National Counterterrorism Centre (NCTC) which would be the nodal point for handling all aspects related to terrorism In India.”
Mr. TS Darbari further added that several reforms have been initiated in the recent past to strengthen and consolidate the existing homeland security infrastructure in the country. However, imparting further momentum to the needed reforms will require intensification of the Government’s on-going active management and fine-tuning of policy, regulations, process and fiscal environment to help ensure strong domestic growth and the achievement of self-sufficiency.
Mr. Tribhuvan Darbari also said that Government over the years had built up capabilities in Defence R&D, Ordnance factories and Defence PSUs to provide our Armed forces with weapons ammunition, equipment, platforms and systems that they need for the security of our country. Mr. Darbari further added that the industrial and technological growth in the past decades has made it possible to achieve this objective by harnessing the emerging dynamism of the Indian industry along with the capabilities available in the academia as well as research and development Institutions.
At the end of his address, Mr. TS Darbari urged the industry members from the region to take advantage of the virtual exposition SecureTech 2020 which is scheduled from 11 January 2021.
