With Donna’s experience managing small businesses and Carly’s expertise as a professional make-up and transformation artist who has spent countless hours on big-budget movie sets, Donna & Carly Cosmetics Inc. was born.

This is a company that started in the kitchen of Donna’s home, as mother and daughter came up with a wish list of the qualities they wanted to create the perfect lipstick. Once they agreed on a formula and a palette of colors, they moved development to a high-end formulation laboratory where the formula was perfected and prepared for mass production. The challenges were plentiful. Maintaining the desired texture in a vegan, non-toxic formula with extended shelf-life capacity and stability proved to be a difficult task. Once achieved, final production then shifted to Italy, where chemical use in cosmetics is strictly monitored.
As a make-up artist, Carly knew what she considered to be important in terms of texture and durability; for Donna, who counts a horse and two dogs as among her great loves, being cruelty-free was a must.
As they began the long and arduous task of whipping up their initial formulas on a kitchen cooktop, they both agreed on the components that would define their product: being organic, vegan, gluten-free, eco-friendly, cruelty-free, non-toxic and sustainably-sourced.
It is a pledge that they aim to keep while offering a product they are confident will meet the beauty needs of their customers.
