What's perhaps the best part of this game is its role-playing aspect - you could choose to be any performer from any band on the stage. Legends like Mo Green and Rat Bones are some of the most popular artists that have found their places within the game's dossier that you, as the user, could choose to emulate.
The features and the rules of the game are simple and rather easy to understand. Mosh Pit Matinee is a single player game and begins by giving the user a list of songs by popular bands such as Underdog and Crown of Thorns. Select your song and begin the game - you will be thrust into spotlight in the avatar of your chosen character and you must remain within the game until you're the last person standing. Complete the circuit of the pit without getting slammed into by the other characters and you win. The added challenge comes in the form of a countdown - before the clock winds down from 90 to 0, you need to finish your routine without being moshed on more than 3 times.
The user interface is friendly, bright and extremely colourful. It emulates the club scene, opting to have gorgeous, if vague graphics, when it comes to the other characters' faces and figures. Playing the game is also easy; sliding and swiping of fingers is all that's required for action within the game. The quality of sounds and music, however, are brilliant, offering the player an enriching experience of hardcore punk/rock music.
Compatibility at the moment remains only with iOS 6.0, though the developers are working to make it a commonplace item for Android users too. An upgrade including a multi-player user interface, more bands, more tracks and access to the web is also on its way.
Ultimately, Mosh Pit Matinee offers an excellent method of reliving great Mosh Music Battles and bands' performances from the comfort of our own homes.
