Both hires represent the firm's commitment to expanding their business and family law legal services in the Charlotte region while maintaining their personal, one-on-one approach with clients.
Mallory Willink joins Moretz & Skufca to provide expertise in the area of family law. While there, she served as the 4th Circuit Governor for the American Bar Association Law Student Division, interned with the Honorable Russell M. Prior to joining Moretz & Skufca, Willink held a position at a family law firm in Union County, North Carolina, where she focused on criminal and family law.
Ron Skufca, leader of the firm's Business Litigation and Family Practice Groups, said, "Mallory is a key asset for us with her background in family law and our expansion into other areas of civil litigation. She'll be working primarily with Matt Marcellino and me, and we feel really lucky to have her on board." Marcellino, a partner in the firm, is a leader in family law and personal injury law. Willink shares their enthusiasm. "I'm really excited to be joining the team and getting to know our clients."
Lauri Eberhart comes to Moretz & Skufca with over 20 years of experience in the motorsports business. A native of Jackson, Michigan, Eberhart graduated cum laude from Cedar Crest College in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and received her J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law. Later she was promoted to executive vice president of administration, supervising the Speedway's executive team and overseeing the facility's day-to-day operations. During her tenure there, she participated in over $500 million of capital acquisitions.
"Lauri has experience not just in legal matters, but in all aspects of the motorsports industry, from strategic business counsel to human resources to external relations," said Zac Moretz, who co-leads the firm's Motorsports Law Practice Group with Ron Skufca. "She will be a great resource not only to our growing group of motorsports law clients, but also to our technology and small business start-up practice." Lauri will also remain general counsel to Humpy Wheeler's new endeavor, Speedway Benefits, a marketing alliance of grassroots race tracks. Eberhart is the 2007 Charlotte Businesswoman of the Year and recipient of the 2004 Business North Carolina Legal Elite Award.
