Monterey National Horse Show to feature many fun activities for the whole family

Salinas, CA (1888PressRelease) June 13, 2011 - By popular demand, the exciting Monterey National Horse Show is returning to the Monterey County Fairgrounds on July 7-10, 2011. This outstanding event, which is fun for the whole family, will feature a wide array of fun activities for the whole family!

The event kicks off with a Monterey County Fair Heritage Foundation Golf Tournament Fundraiser for the newly formed Monterey County Fair Heritage Foundation (a 501c3 non-profit organization) that supports the functions of the Monterey County Fair, including raising funds through grants and donations. The Heritage Foundation Golf Tournament will be held at Quail Lodge, 8000 Valley Greens Drive in Carmel Valley, on Thursday, July 7th, and will also include a dinner event. Registration and check in is at 11:00 AM, followed by lunch at Noon. The Shotgun Start is at 1:00 PM and dinner is at 6:00 PM. There will be a Hole in One contest to win a vehicle from Chevrolet of Watsonville. Many levels of Golf Tournament Sponsorships are currently available. From Friday, July 8th through Sunday, July 10th, there will be many free horse show events, jackpot roping, barrel racing and Ranch National Team Sorting at the Pattee Arena at the Monterey County Fairgrounds. In addition, there will be the crowning of the Miss Monterey National Horse Show on Saturday evening, July 9th. There is free admission to the Horse Show Events although reserved Box Seat Sponsorships are now available. On Friday, July 8th, there will be the Pete Pedrazzi Honorary Region 10 and 4-H/FFA Horse Show beginning at 8:00 AM with activities all day. Renowned cowboy poet and humorist, Baxter Black, will perform at 7:00 PM. Baxter Black has been described by the New York Times as "…probably the nation's most successful living poet". Tickets are $75 VIP which include a Meet and Greet Reception from 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. and $25 for General Admission. Tickets are on sale at www.vallitix.com or they can be purchased at the Monterey County Fair Office. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and a no host bar and appetizers are available. The performance is a fundraiser for the non-profit Monterey County Fair Heritage Foundation.

On Saturday, July 9th, there will be Ranch National Team Sorting in the Pattee Arena starting at 7:30 p.m. The Monterey County Fair Kick Off Barbecue and Silent Auction will begin at 5:00 PM and adults are $20 and children $10. There will be entertainment and dancing to the popular local band, The Wild Turkeys, at 7:30 PM at the Payton Stage on the Monterey County Fairgrounds.

The Monterey County Fairgrounds is a premiere event center set on 22 oak-studded acres with ample parking.
