- (1888PressRelease) September 30, 2011 - Monte De Oro's 2008 Congruity is a blend of 60% Syrah from our Vista Del Monte Vineyard and 40% Zinfandel from our Galway Vineyard.
Monte De Oro named this wine "Congruity" as this wine has the quality of being congruous and in harmony, offering a point of agreement between the flavors, tannins and finish of the two wines producing this blend.
The two wines comprising this blend were barrel-aged in French & American Oak barrels for 28 months. 27% was aged in brand new French Oak, 20% in aged in brand new American Oak and the balance 53%) was aged in two-to-four year old French & American Oak. This wine was bottled on March 8, 2011 producing 408 cases.
The 2008 Congruity is a rich, deep purple colored wine offering a bouquet of blackberry jam . This bouquet is complimented with aromas of vanilla, oak, cranberry and subtle splices. With soft, mellow tannins and medium acidity, this full bodied wine provides a rich fruit basket on the taste with blackberries, black cherries, hints of plum and dried cranberries, black liquorice, anise and cocoa. Monte De Oro's 2008 Congruity provides a smooth, slightly smoky finish (from the Syrah component) that is long and wanting for a second taste.
