Monte De Oro Winery Releases the Third in a Series of Four Summer Wines This Week
As temperatures reach triple digits across the country, and stay relatively reasonable here in the Temecula Valley, Monte De Oro is set to release yet another of their refreshing and on point White Wines; guaranteed to quench the driest of thirsts.
- (1888PressRelease) July 28, 2011 - Two weeks ago we released our 2010 Sauvignon Blanc. A crisp, clean offering that does not disappoint at $17. Last week brought us the $22 highly popular 2010 Viognier; a staff favorite. Perfect to pair with hearty Summer salads and light barbecue fare.
This week we are very pleased to announce the release of the 100% Estate Grown 2010 Pinot Gris Galway Vineyard.
Monte De Oro's Galway Vineyard has 3,500 Pinot Gris vines on 4.35 vineyard acres. Monte De Oro's yield was 12.5 tons (or 2.8 tons per acre) and the grapes were crushed and pressed at Leonesse Cellars in Temecula, California. The wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks, aged for 10 months.
With light pale yellow color with shades of amber tint, Monte De Oro's 2010 Pinot Gris was steel tank fermented for 10 months. With initial hints of minerals and spice, this wine offers a nice fragrance of gazanias and white honeysuckles complimented with aromas of bosc pears, peaches, and melon. This light-bodied, bright and crisp, acidic wine offers pleasant tastes of citrus fruit, melon, apricot and inklings of lemon zest. The 2010 Pinot Gris provides a clean, dry lingering finish and would pair well with freshly grilled fish (salmon, shrimp), Chinese chicken salad and crisp garden salads complimented with chicken or turkey.
Grape Information:
4.35 Acres. Planted Spring 2002.
2010 was Pinot Gris' 6th Harvest
