- Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC (1888PressRelease) August 03, 2012 - Monica Smiley, publisher and CEO of Enterprising Women magazine (http://www.enterprisingwomen.com), has announced that she represented the publication as a delegate at the Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP) "Education, Networking, and Policy to Grow Your Business" conference held July 18 and 19 at The Liaison Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. Smiley had the honor of introducing Sen. Kay Hagan (D-NC) at a congressional leaders luncheon on Capitol Hill during the event.
During the two-day conference, participants heard from accomplished national leaders about the state of women in business and how to implement effective growth strategies in government contracting and online marketing. The conference was held in the wake of a WIPP study that revealed the exclusion of women from congressional hearings. Highlights of the event included a briefing from Tina Tchen, assistant to the President and chief of staff to the First Lady; and Don Graves, executive director of the President's Council on Jobs and Competitiveness and the deputy assistant secretary for Small Business, Community Development and Housing Policy.
