According to an article in the American Journal of Public Health, "Moderate alcohol use may contribute to the risk of specific types of infertility."*
When patients hear moderate alcohol use can hinder conception efforts, the question how much is too much is often brought up. Dulan answers, "Your body needs to be operating at its peak to get pregnant. I would say if you have to ask that question, you should probably refrain from having libations for the time being." While undergoing infertility treatments, it's highly advised to abstain completely from alcohol.
Finding alternative ways to take the edge off a stressful day is important, what else can make for a happy hour? Dulan suggests making a list of enjoyable, tension-reducing activities to partake in on a routine basis. Walking the family dog around the block, playing a favorite board game, yoga and meditation, or becoming a connoisseur of fine herbal teas are all proven stress reducers. (But always do your research, and avoid tea not recommended during pregnancy.)
