  • Cleveland-Lorain-Elyria, OH (1888PressRelease) January 21, 2010 - The Mobility Conquest is one of the most unique new products to enter the USA motorcycle market as a production model. Consumers will get their first glimpse of the wheelchair-hand control driven trike at Cycle World's International Motorcycle Show at the Cleveland I-X Center this January 29-31.

Paraplegic bikers now have an option they didn't have before and adaptive vehicle dealers across the country are being organized to showcase the UK-developed BMW trike, along with their existing wheelchair van solutions. Said Guy Hanford, Director of Marketing for MobilityWorks, "We're used to installing and servicing hi-tech driving controls for paraplegic and quadriplegic drivers, so this is a natural extension of providing new technology to our customers."

The trike has been manufactured and sold in the United Kingdom for several years as The Martin Conquest, named for its original designer Alan Martin who's son became disabled in an accident. MobilityWorks recently became the first Conquest representative in the United States where it is being marketed as The Mobility Conquest. After an initial import of 45 trikes from the UK, they will be manufactured in Akron by MobilityWorks' own Commercial Division to the original patented Martin Conquest design and BMW 1170cc motorcycle specifications.

Modified Minivan Hauler Also Makes its Debut - No Trailer Required...

MobilityWorks will also be showcasing a structurally modified Dodge Grand Caravan with a rear entry fold-out ramp that can be used as bike hauler. Originally designed for wheelchair accessibility, the entire floor is cut out and lowered in the back to create ample floor to ceiling headroom and a lower ramp angle. "There's enough room for a Harley Davidson Fat Boy to be transported inside the van versus having to buy and hook up a trailer" said Hanford. Two rear seats are still available for van passengers. MobilityWorks also converts Chrysler Town & Country minivans with rear entry ramps as well.

Over 200 exhibitors and 61,000 attendees are expected at this year's Cycle World event. The I-X Center is located at One I-X Center Drive Cleveland, OH 44135. Exhibit Hours are Friday, January 29 from 3:00 PM - 9:00 PM, Saturday, January 30 from 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM, and Sunday, January 31 from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
