  • New York, NY (1888PressRelease) March 19, 2016 - Mobarick Abdullah III's incredible art takes the medium of spray paint to a new level. Mobarick works in high, technically sophisticated realism. His pieces are intricately detailed, with a level of color nuance that one would expect from the most skilled oil painters. His palette includes more neon and a wide, rainbow-like range colors than a traditionally realistic work, but it is all in the service of something indefinably naturalistic. It is an exaggeration of highlights and contrasts to embrace an effortless free-spiritedness.

Mobarick paints iconic portraits and landscape scenes. He paints dynamic surfing scenes seemingly pulled right from '60s pop songs. His "sitters" are often pop culture giants such as Jimi Hendrix, King Tut, or Darth Vader. These figures originate in many spheres - history, music, fiction - but they have all reached an outsized stature. Mobarick explores this stature through his aesthetic of what he calls "energy and motion."

Mobarick was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and today lives in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, where he is a professional artist. He has also collaborated on designing clothing and watches.

    About the Exhibition
Forms and Formalities: A New Exhibition at Agora Gallery
Artists of all walks of life come together in the exhibition Forms and Formalities to express their inner visions, personal stories, and hopes and dreams for the future. Ranging from the highly representational to the highly abstract, the works on display encompass a great collection of exciting colors and motions. With an expert hand, these artists exercise their talents with intoxicating results. As clear subjects emerge from a haze of abstraction and emotion, we explore what we can see in art, how we come to these interpretations, and why we identify with them.
