  • (1888PressRelease) January 10, 2012 - Multimedia Information and Technology (MmIT) Group's national conference this year addresses key tools and technologies for an effective library and information service in a time of economic austerity. The day-long event takes place on Tuesday 17th April 2012 at the University of Sheffield.

    This exciting conference aims to showcase examples of free or low cost tools in action in a number of workshops.

    The workshops are complemented by high profile keynote speakers:
    • Ross Mahon, Apps Edu Evangelist, from Google and
    • Marshall Breeding, of the Library Technology Guides (http://librarytechnology.org)

    Workshops include:
    • Dave Pattern "Discovering discovery: Experiences of implementing Summon at Huddersfield"
    • Jon Fletcher "In the palm of their hand: The next step for the handheld librarian"
    • Andy Tattersall and Claire Beecroft "A free web toolkit for the modern library"
    • Rene Meijer "Designing space and services to support digital literacies"
