Missio Blends Business And Philanthropy
Due to extreme poverty around the world a new company is formed. Missio is a new company that just launched their website. Their company will give a portion of each sale to impoverished communities. The first community they will be helping is Managua, Nicaragua.
- Portland-Vancouver, OR-WA (1888PressRelease) October 21, 2010 - Owner and founder Brandon Angelo today announced the launch of a new philanthropic company and online apparel store Missio, Latin for the act of sending. Missio is a line of high-quality, American-made graphic T-shirts. A portion of each sale is given to communities in need around the globe.
"Missio is a blending of quality products and the desire of doing something with a greater purpose," said Brandon Angelo, owner and founder of Missio. "When a person makes a purchase with Missio they are more than a customer, they become a part of the movement. Customers automatically become philanthropists."
Angelo, a Vancouver, WA native, started Missio as a way to provide clothing and resources to the many communities in need around the US and the globe. The inspiration for this company came from his experiences encountering extreme need and poverty during mission and humanitarian trips to New Orleans, the Gulf of Mexico and Mexico. Prior to starting Missio, Angelo was co-owner of Ice Cream Renaissance in downtown Vancouver for 4 years before selling the business last spring.
Proceeds from the first 5,000 shirts will provide money for projects such as wells for clean water and clothes for the people of Managua, Nicaragua and will also benefit Villa Esperanza, a safe haven for young girls rescued from a life of prostitution on the streets of Managua.
"Missio is a fun and creative way to provide consumers with great quality products while at the same time helping people in need," said Angelo. "People are sending more than just clothes and materials they are sending hope to people who need it."
