Miss Earth Florida 2010 and Miss Teen Earth Florida 2010 announce green tour across Florida
Green Beauties kick-off the 41st anniversary of Earth Day.
- (1888PressRelease) March 30, 2011 - Continuing to demonstrate their commitment to environmental education and advocacy, Miss Earth Florida 2010 Kelly Saks and Miss Teen Earth Florida 2010 Brittney Ronda have begun their Earth Day tour.
Kicking-off Earth Month, Saks and Ronda along with the City of Miami Mayor Tomas P. Regalado supported Earth Hour by dimming the city lights at Miami City Hall on March 26. Following Earth Hour celebration began a series of green and charitable events across the State.
Saks, 24, and Ronda, 15, are part of an International System of Beauty Pageants - Miss Earth - dedicated 100 percent to promoting humanitarian and environmental efforts worldwide. The Florida queens have done their part during the seven months they've reigned as Florida Earth queens by leading more than a dozen of educational activities and events, and will continue to do so until they crown their successors in Miami Beach on June 26th.
The queen's schedule of events to celebrate Earth Day includes:
March 30th - Green Fair at MDC InterAmerican Campus
April 2nd - Relay For Life in Kendall
April 2nd - White Out Cancer Gala for the American Cancer Society
April 3rd - Annual AIDS Walk in South Beach
April 10th - Earth Day Fest at Pinecrest Gardens
April 16th - Clean Up at Barnacle State Park in Coconut Grove
April 16th - Zoo Miami's "Party for the Planet"
April 17th - Earth Day Fest at Barnacle State Park in Coconut Grove
April 19th - Earth Day Fair at Broward College
April 22nd - Official Earth Day Celebration in West Palm Beach with International Green Energy Council
The green beauties will be addressing event attendees with their environmental messages, as well as, hosting different educational activities during these events, supported by local Earth queens.
Additionally, Saks and Ronda will be hosting the Miss Earth Miami pageant on April 17 and Miss Earth Tampa pageant on April 30. Both are local qualifiers for the 2011 season leading to the crowning of the new Miss Earth Florida and Miss Teen Earth Florida 2011 titleholders.
The tour will have the ultimate goal of raising environmental awareness and supporting sustainable solutions to the world climate changes, as well as, encouraging the younger generations to take part in worldwide efforts to generate a healthier and cleaner way to live on our planet.
Saks and Ronda will also promote their personal platforms; Saks, "Teaching Adolescents Success Through Ecology" and Ronda, "Recycle the Love."
The Miss Earth Florida pageants are a year-round effort to promote environmental awareness. Once a year, the pageants organize the crowning event that gathers ladies from across the state, for a very green and glamorous show. Plus, the winners represent the state at the national competitions for Miss Earth USA and Miss Teen Earth USA and represent and promote the organization's causes for a year.
Registration for the 2011 season is in full effect all across the State of Florida. Qualified teens who want to compete in Miss Teen Earth Florida 2011 must be between the ages of 14 and 18 and those qualified to compete for Miss Earth Florida 2011 must be between the ages of 18 and 26.
