Military Experts to Discuss Challenges of Global Pilot Shortages at Military Flight Training 2018
SMi Reports: The effect of global pilot shortages and flight training techniques are topics set to be discussed at the 7th Annual Military Flight Training Conference next month in London.
- (1888PressRelease) September 08, 2018 - In just over 4 weeks, SMi’s 7th annual Military Flight Training conference will be commencing on the 10th and 11th October in London, where military and industry experts will give in-depth presentations on the latest advancements in the military flight training industry.
In recent news, the pilot shortage continues to plague the aviation community, as the commanding general of the Army's Aviation Center of Excellence stated that they're "short pilots ... we are under our authorization for aviators, most predominantly seen in the AH-64 community".
He also revealed that the service is approximately 6 years away from reversing its shortage of pilots for the AH-64 Apache and other rotary-wing aircraft, via increased acquisitions of new pilots and paying retention bonuses to seasoned pilots.
It's predicted that in the next 18 months, 33% of the active-component warrant officer aviation population will be retirement-eligible, creating an even bigger issue as this will mean a deficiency in experienced aviators.*
Challenges associated with pilot shortages, advances in simulation and synthetic training, and flight training tactics are key presentation topics at this year's 7th annual Military Flight Training conference.
The two-day conference will feature an international line-up of expert military and industry speakers set to give high-level briefings on the 3 main platforms: fast jet, fixed wing and rotary wing training.
Delegates will have the chance to hear from international military decision-makers giving their thoughts and perspectives on the challenges and future possibilities of flight training, with an afternoon on day two dedicated to future helicopter training improvements and strategies, as well as academic perspectives on flight training.
