  • (1888PressRelease) April 14, 2012 - The overall theme of Midi Music Festival 2012 is dubbed as "PM2.5" in order to draw attention to the physical health dangers it poses. This year, Midi will continue to expand its Music Festivals, including Shanghai, Beijing, Ocean, Yangtze, Midi Rock Award, Midi Children, and Midi Battle of Bands National Campus Competition. Midi Music School recently confirmed that the 2nd Midi Shanghai Music Festival will be held on April 21-22 at the Century Park in Pudong, Shanghai, officially the prologue for the Midi rock youth assembly for the year 2012.

PM2.5, known as lung particles, refers to the particles less than or equal to 2.5 microns in diameter in the air. That's less than 1/20 of a human hair! Although the earth's atmospheric composition consists of very small quantities of PM2.5, it has an important affect on air quality and visibility. PM2.5 contains large amounts of toxic and hazardous substances, remain longer in the atmosphere allowing it to travel long distances and thus may have a greater impact on human health and air quality. In February 2012, the U.S. State Department agreed to release the newly revised indicators in "Ambient Air Quality Standards" specifically for monitoring PM2.5.

Since January 2012, Midi has received hundreds of bands applications over two-month time period. Midi Organizing Committee appreciates the strong support and love of music from fans and will be listening to each piece of work submitted, and as always, is committed to bring more original and excellent bands to Midi stage.

Midi Shanghai 2012 will have two stages, the Tang Stage and the Yuan stage (electronic dance music scene). The lineup for the Tang stage includes eight bands from overseas, namely, Marky Ramone's Blitzkrieg (United States), Nasser (France), two Danish bands The Kandidate and Scarred by Beauty, La Souris Deglinguee "(France), Backyard Surgeons (Australia), Little Fish (United Kingdom), and Monstereo (Norway). Domestic lineups include six bands from Beijing, Pain Young, Muma & Third Party, Distorting Machine, Brain Failure, Hao Yun, Wang Yong, CIS and two well-known Shanghai local bands Grief and Feather. The ticket information will also be released shortly.

In addition to Midi Shanghai 2012, Midi Organizing Committee is also working on the 13th Beijing Midi Music Festival, an open-air rock festival born 12 years ago in China that will be held during the May 1st holiday season. Stay tuned for more information.
