MiCTA Awards $25,000 Impact Grant To Calumet School District 132
Grant will be used to promote Internet connectivity at home for students without access.
- (1888PressRelease) December 03, 2013 - MiCTA, a national non-profit cooperative purchasing organization located in Saginaw, MI is pleased to announce that it has awarded a $25,000 Technology Impact Grant to Calumet School District #132 in Calumet, IL. The grant will be used to support the district's goal of improving its students' science, mathematics and technology skills.
"MiCTA is pleased to present our 2013 Technology Impact Grant to Calumet School District 132," says Tim von Hoff, Chief Operating Officer of MiCTA. "The grant will help fund the purchase of Sprint 3G/4G personal hot-spots, which will provide Internet access at home for students."
"Calumet School District 132 is looking to extend technology outside of the classroom, so that Calumet students will have more opportunities to engage in learning, especially with a focus on science, mathematics and technology," says Dr. Lawrence Cox, Calumet's District Administrator tor Logistics and Technology. "The goal of the program is to better engage students with technology. With additional resources available to these students in Math and Science, we expect to increase test scores by 10 points, while significantly increasing technology proficiency."
The project is expected to span two school years, and the Sprint technology will be introduced in the Fall of 2013.
