- (1888PressRelease) November 21, 2013 - Bangalore, India [NASDAQ: MCHP] - Microchip Technology Inc., a leading provider of microcontroller, mixed-signal, analog and Flash-IP solutions, has been named 'Best Technology Partner 2013' by Delta India, one of Microchip's many satisfied Indian customers. The award was given in recognition of Microchip's pioneering work in helping Delta India to develop a remote monitoring system for its smart telecom towers-the first system of its kind in India. The solution, which utilizes Microchip's 32-bit PIC32 microcontroller, enables telecom towers to be monitored centrally, generating a host of efficiencies for users and optimizing the use of the highly capital-intensive infrastructure.
"It's an honor to be named Delta India's 'Best Technology Partner' this year, which came about as a result of Microchip and Delta India engineers working in concert to deliver an innovative and timely solution to Delta India's customers," said Sumit Mitra, vice president of Microchip's MCU32 Division. "Delta India has been a Microchip customer for more than 10 years, and I believe this award is a fitting testament to the strong relationship between the two companies. It is also a reflection of the hard work of our engineers, who ensured that we fully understood Delta India's requirements and created a solution that fulfilled their objectives. We look forward to continuing our strong relationship with this important customer in the future."
This remote monitoring system is the result of two years of careful design work. Central monitoring enables significant savings on operating costs to be passed on to users of Delta India's smart telecom tower solution, sharpening the company's competitive edge and reinforcing its status as a technology leader in India's crowded telecom market.
"Microchip's expert design know-how and innovative 32-bit MCUs were crucial in enabling us to centralize the remote monitoring of our telecom towers," said Dalip Sharma, managing director, Delta India. "This gives us a significant advantage in a highly competitive market, and we could not have achieved this without Microchip's seamless support. We very much appreciate their efforts."
